Shade Range: Produces two types of dyes: yellow and red. Yellow is easily extracted, while red, known as carthamin, is more challenging to extract. The colors range from soft pinks to deep reds depending on the method used.
Mordant Requirements: Typically, safflower is used without a mordant to achieve pinks and reds on plant based fibers. However, when used with a mordant like alum, yellows are produced on protein fibers.
